I just noticed in my message box that our friend Jimmie aka Jimpan1973 :iconjimpan1973: is soon to celebrate his fourth DA birthday!    Though I have yet to reach this primordial age myself, I have noticed that for most Fractallers, the tender age of four is actually a really cute age.  Between 4 and 5 the baby fractals fall out and new more mature fractals come in to take their place.  These are the fractals that the artist will keep with them for the remainder of their lives, never to be deleted and only taken away from them by painful prying.
Fractals  This was the first fractal that Jimmie posted on DA in March of 2007.  Although simple it reflects a genuine eye for composing fractal images and an understanding of the inherent beauty of these forms.  His comment when posting this was “Fractal beauty!!! Who can resist?”  Well, certainly Jimmie can’t.  And we are all very glad for that!

Four year old fractal artists are eager to try new things.  They enjoy greater self-control and their creative sense of ingenuity allows them to express themselves in more complex and imaginative ways. Also, at this age, the four year old has finally increased their capacity for understanding mathematical concepts beyond basic objects and shapes.  Now, at age four, they may be considering creating their own formulas.  They can recognize the difference between a Mandelbrot and a Julia by simple observation of the formula alone. They also possess the ability, on occasion (but with increasing frequency), to be able to predict the visual outcome of a certain change to the values in an equation before actually commiting it.  To the amateur, this skill may seem like magic.  I believe this is a direct result of a significant increase in their attention span.   This improvement, by itself, produces a drastic enhancement to the quality of their work.  To understand Jimmies metamorphases into a four year old,  we must observe more of his art.

Colour me blind  This early post of Jimmies reflects his rapid development.  It also echoes the development of an æsthetic philosophy which has catapulted Jimmie to great renown as one of the worlds great fractal artists in only four short years.  Don't get me wrong, this is not mere fawning sycophancy or exaggeration for comedic effect.  I really think he is one of the best.

Enough from me.  I will let his art speak for itself with a small sample of what you can see in Jimmie's gallery!

The Eye of the Storm     Vines2

Stairs of infinity     Marblechess

 Juxtaposed Metamorphosis      Yggdrasil

Dragons tail     Incidental Element

IFS Mobius     Contradiction

Metallic Doodads     Golden Rings

The Golden Compass     Marblerun

Chromatic Carousel     Jepessen Valley

Colorful Sky     Phoenix on fire

This last image was selected specifically to demonstrate his talent with Apo!  Multicolored

In order to compose this collection of Jimmies art, I went through his gallery and selected just one from each page, starting with the oldest and working my way forward.  It was very difficult because each and every page is chock full of masterpieces.  Forcing myself to pick just one was difficult, but I figured that if you are interested, you can go to his gallery.  I cannot just copy his whole gallery here (as much as I would like to).  It’s just not efficient.

Jimmie’s gallery is a treasure trove of gems, rusty metal and alien technology.  The only thing cooler than his fractals, is the fact that he spends so much time contributing to our community.  I am glad he is here, to inspire us, astonish us, and sometimes, perhaps show us a trick or two.  I admire him immensely as an artist and a person.  Happy 4th Birthday Jimmie.  Thanks to everyone for visiting and have a wonderful week.

Dan

Hi, I came across some of your artwork and wanted to say, your work is amazing!
I'm graphic design student and looking for some tips and have some questions.
Are you a graphic designer and do you get paid for the art you do? Or do you only do it as for self interest.
And did you take classes to create the art you do?
Hope to hear from you, and keep up the work! :)

Hey, Dan! Happy DA birthday a few days early. If I wait until the day I know I'll forget it, so it's best for me to wish it now.
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Anj
